Jane Austen Society Birthday Tea Party - Dec 14th

Dunwoody Library

We had a great time and a large crowd despite the heavy rains.  Thanks to all who contributed good food, good conversation, and good fun.

We began with a modest fashion show

followed by Linda's talk on the
Christmas scenes in Austen's novels...

...followed by a talk by Mr Bennet
on the origins of the novel form
"Who wrote the first novel?"
(yes the coat is not accurate -- yet)

Then it was tea time...

...with a lot more than scones and crumpets!

Audience Participation -
recounting a visit to Austen's grave in the 60's.

Audience Participation:  Helena
knew a lot about early novels.

An impromptu reading of a funny scene
In Northanger Abbey

Welcome to the Atlanta Region of JASNA!

Our members meet regularly throughout the year to enjoy lectures, attend events, and discuss the works, life, and times of Jane Austen (1775-1817). We meet on the weekends so that people living farther out from the city will be able to attend more easily. We hope you will join us! info@JasnaAtlanta.org.
