Book Discussion Groups

JASNA regions usually feature large events in the big city and book discussion group activities in surrounding towns and cities wherever clusters of JASNA members live.  A good example is the Southwest California region (www.JasnaSW.org) which has 11 reading groups around Los Angeles.  Each discussion group makes its own plans.  Some are formal and some are informal.  The main activity is to 'talk Jane,' but of course things such things as hearing a guest speaker or attending an Austen-related movie or play are done.  A typical plan would be to meet 4 to 6 times per year (on days that don't conflict with regional events) at the local library.  If you would like to form a local reading group, the Region is ready to assist you!  Just send a line to info@JasnaAtlanta.org.   Atlanta Book Discussion Group Meets most months on third Saturday Dunwoody Public Library or Toco Hills Library Contact:  info@JasnaAtlanta.org The Atlanta group occasionally co-hosts meetings with area colleges.   Columbus Book Discussion Group Bi-monthly meetings Columbus Public Library Contact: kzohn@columbusmuseum.com This group has been exploring one novel at each of the bi-monthly meetings. We choose a leader for the discussion, who is responsible for bringing information on an interesting topic related to the book. Each member brings four questions to ask the group, and these are asked informally as the leader moves the discussion along. Recently, some members of JASNA living in the Savannah/Hilton Head area have been looking into starting an Austen discussion group there.  Stay tuned!
