August 2015 Meeting Notice

We will meet August 15, 2015 at 2pm at the Toco Hills Library for a back to school lesson!

We will continue reading the juvenilia by discussing Jane Austen's History of England.  It is a very short satire written by "a partial, prejudiced, & ignorant Historian" outlining the reigns of Henry IV to Charles I.  You can read the full text of it here: http://penelope.uchicago.edu/austen/austen.html

Cassandra  illustrated Jane's entries with portraits of the kings and queens.  Persuasions published a fascinating article about Cassandra's portraits here at: Are We Ready for New Directions?  Jane Austen’s The History of England & Cassandra’s Portraits.

Also, we will take a brief quiz/review of the state of the English monarchy and royal shenanigans during Jane's life.

We hope to see you there!  Please e-mail ee @ jasnaatlanta.org with any questions.

Welcome to the Atlanta Region of JASNA!

Our members meet regularly throughout the year to enjoy lectures, attend events, and discuss the works, life, and times of Jane Austen (1775-1817). We meet on the weekends so that people living farther out from the city will be able to attend more easily. We hope you will join us! info@JasnaAtlanta.org.
